Cautions & Disclaimer
This reference table does not indicate whether a botanical may be poisonous.
Because misidentification and dosage/quantity errors are common with herbs in plant form,
it would be nearly impossible to give a complete warning regarding the use of any botanical.
Though it true that many of the following herbs are edible,
DO NOT ingest any of them without fully understanding the possible effects and consequences.
Use your brains people ~ I'm just an anonymous voice on the web.
Read, research & ask your doctor before you eat anything that your mother didn't feed you.
Using the listed botanicals for non-ingested spellwork should be safer.
Be aware that contact allergies and reactions do occur--
don't 'bathe' in it until you've patch-tested thoroughly.

Tips for getting all the info from the chart:

GENERAL ~ Herbs and Botanicals in color appear in more than one category. To find repeat occurrences, scan the table for matching color.
PROPERTIES ~ Herbs and botanicals marked with '<$' are the easiest to find and the least expensive ~ Dandelion and Dragon's Blood are both effective herbs to aid divination. Begin with the <$ herbs.
GROWING ~ Herbs listed in the 'grow' column are reputed to be relatively easy to grow in Zones 3-4 and warmer. Occasionally an herb will not tolerate zone conditions beyond a certain level. Try it and see. Botanicals marked with 'A>%' or 'P>%' have been successful for me here in central Minnesota, USA.
(An <% means that I'm still trying to grow it successfully..., A = annual; P = perennial)

BUYING ~ Most med-large cities have a co-op grocery that will carry many of the following herbs in bulk ~ look at the teas. Many areas have New Age or Magickal Shops even if you aren't aware of it. Go to The Witches' Voice (www.witchvox.com) and search in your state for shops near you. Magickal herbs may also be purchased by mail and though the web.
GATHERING ~ This is risky business.
When gathering botanicals from the wild keep in mind the following:
DO NOT deplete the Mother's resources.
DO NOT harm the plant any more than necessary.
BE SURE that the plant materials you want have not been treated with insecticides or pesticides.
POSITIVELY IDENTIFY all plant materials using a good field guide.
DO NOT trespass.
Note that I have included ONLY trees and shrubs in the 'gather' list. I do not recommend that anyone collect wildflowers or wildherbs from natural settings. I don't do it. I'd rather grow what I can and purchase the rest from reputable sources. Its safer for me and my family

its more respectful of the Mother's works.
