Wind has great impact on the human psyche.  Though witches that work indoors may be insulated from the effects of the wind to some extent, it is nearly impossible to completely ignore it.  For witches that work outdoors on a regular basis, the wind has a huge impact on the mood of the workings.  In the chart below, I have attempted to capture the 'personality' of each prevailing wind.  I believe that we have deep-seated, instinctual responses to each wind.  Understanding, defining and utilizing these responses helps a witch move from novice toward confident practitioner.

The intensity of the wind modifies the response we experience.  Some winds work below the surface of our awareness due to their benign nature and quiet, unobtrusive demeanor.  A soft, steady, southern breeze automatically stirs romantic, loving feelings in most people.  Winds that change the temperature of our surroundings dramatically and / or announce their presence with dancing branches and whistling sounds in the eves, insist that we notice them.  A high, gusty, eastern wind often conjures emotions like anxiety and restlessness.

A changing wind is a common manifestation of the energy raised by a witch.  Many of us have experienced a sudden, noticeable increase or decrease in wind speed or a swirl of air that temporarily disrupts the prevailing wind.  If this is a common occurrence for you in your workings, it may be especially valuable to consider what each wind symbolizes for you.

Please, understand that your individual perceptions of the wind supersede the information in the chart.  Trust your own senses of logic and intuition.  Because of the transient nature of winds, it is best to memorize your correspondences.  By the time you go into the house to look up the significance of a particular wind, the wind will often be gone.  I suggest that you begin with the chart below and create your own interpretation.
