My gardens, among other things, have suffered neglect recently.  I write this note to encourage those that miss planting dates or lose an entire perennial bed to hungry worms while they aren't looking.  In short, IT HAPPENS.  This year I am watching last year's plantings take shape and have decided to grow nothing annual except for a ton of heritage tomatoes and some cucumbers.  I expect I'll get bitten by the ambition bug again but, apparently, this was meant to be a year of leisure.  With any luck I'll harvest enough to be able to preserve pickles and tomatoes.  On the other hand, I may not get around to that.  And, as Saturday Night Live's Stewart would say, THAT'S . . . OKAY.
